Classes offered at Franklin Gun Shop
1) Tennessee Concealed Carry Weapons Permit Class
This is a basic safety course required by the State of Tennessee to apply for and obtain your Handgun Carry Permit. Our class meets and exceeds the states requirements for a Firearms Training School. In addition to the state mandated material, we will also help build a foundation of fundametals for newer and practiced shooters alike. This includes but not limited to Basic Firearm safety, Genereal Firearm nomenclature, selecting a firearm to meet your needs, different ammunition, and holster options. Also the basics of firearms marksmanship such as sight alignment, trigger control, weapons manipulation and presentation. There is a written examination involving the class related material, as well as a shooting qualification. Passing grades in both are required for a certificate. All of Franklin Gun shops instructors are not only state of Tennessee and NRA certified, but are also avid shooters and employees of the shop and can assist you during business hours with any additional questions you may have pertaining to your permit or firearms in general. Our class sizes are kept to a minimum to allow more of a one-on-one approach with students. Because of class sizes pre-booking is required to attend. Cost is $110.00 per student.

Questions Carry Permit Holders should ask themselves - if you answer "no" to any of the questions below, then you are not fully prepared to protect your life and the life of your loved ones in a life threatening situation. You have made the decision to obtain your carry permit, now do the responsible thing and be prepared to act confidently if faced with a real world threat by enrolling in our Advanced Fundamentals class.
1) Do I understand the four major malfunctions of a firearm and how to clear them?
2) Do I know the difference between a speed, tactical, and an administrative reload and when to use them?
3) Do I know the importance of muscle memory and how it pertains to accurate shooting under stress?
4) Can I neutralize multiple threats in a timely manner?
5) Do I know the importance of where to carry concealed on my person and how to draw from that position in a real word scenario - its advantages and disadvantages?
6) What is proper weapon presentation and do I display it?
7) Can I shoot from different angles confidently using proper weapon presentation?
Just because you can hit the bulls eye consistently at 15 yards doesn’t mean you are ready for possibilities that await you in the real world - where you might be in a fight for your life, such as in a parking garage, at an ATM, walking on a sidewalk, facing multiple attackers, etc. Learn how to shoot to live.
Remember, the average distance at which a firefight occurs is 21 feet (7 yards), and it takes the average person 3 seconds to close that distance. The average number of fired rounds is 2 to 5. The average firefight last 3 to 6 seconds. It takes an individual four tenths of a second to even acknowledge a threat, and then react to it.
GET YOURSELF IN A POSITION TO USE YOUR CARRY PERMIT THE WAY IT WAS INTENDED - TO PROTECT YOUR LIFE AND THE LIFE OF YOUR LOVED ONES WHEN FACED WITH THE STRESS OF AN ATTACK ON WHAT YOU CARE ABOUT MOST.
